KEY ACTIVITIES

Concept Space

The method of Concept Space allows participants to get acquainted with the frame of the project and to assess their expectations, concerns and contributions. The concept space is divided in ten stations: Objectives, aims and keywords of the project; Guiding principles; Questions participants have; What participants bring to the project; What participants want to bring back with themselves after the project; The programme flow; The SIYS Treaty – a learning agreement; Non-formal education and the eight key competencies; Three things why i tis good to meet me; Beautiful corner: most beautiful thing we have ever seen, heard and said.

Reflection Lab

After defining their learning objectives, participants reflect on their learning process and on their learning achievements on a daily basis. In the first part of the reflection lab they evaluate (with the help of a guiding question) what they have learnt that day; in the second part, they discuss in small groups about the day.

Breaking News

An interactive, creative method to transfer messages to the participants and to start the day in a good mood. Breaking news consist of answers to participants’ questions from the reflection lab of the previous day; announcements; introduction of activities etc. All this, done in a “TV news-style”.

Pasta Challenge

Team building activity. Participants receive a pack of spaghetti and a duct tape – their mission is to build the highest pasta-tower in limited time. The activity aims to reflect on group dynamics, decision making processes ando n team work.

World Caffè

Interactive method to create discussion and to confront different views and opinions in small groups on Non-Formal Education and on Education in general. Four topics were discussed with the participants: What does learning mean; what does knowing mean? What should be changed in education? Who is responsible/in charge of education? Non-formal education: pros and cons.
The activity also facilitated the exchange of knowledge on different country situations.

Talk show – The Refugee Crisis and Migratory Flows

Participants in medium-sized groups reflect on the refugee crisis and on the topic of migration: what do we really know about it? Where do we get the info? How should we deal with it? As a result of the discussion, participants create a Talk Show on the topic, including different elements: the anchor man/woman, the guests, a correspondent, invited artists to entertain etc.

New sports for the next Olympic games

Participants, in small groups, create new, inclusive sports/games/physical activities, or modify existing onse to become more inclusive. In the first part of the day they have to define the title; how it is played; what rules it has; who is the target group of the activity and what is the educational aspect. In the second part of the day, participants become facilitators and pilot their newly invented sports, involving the other participants.

Voices and Whispers of Guimarães

Activity to facilitate the interaction between participants and the local community, and to explore the opinions of locals about youth, sports and social inclusion. Participants, in small groups, have received a mission with different tasks: finding out about opportunities for youth in the city; finding out about migrants and migrant communities; finding out sports practiced, local sport teams and their anthem; capturing inclusion and exclusion in the city through photos; bringing back a piece of clothes – without buying or stealing it.

Communities

Participants created a local “social community travel guide” for their peers about their own realities, in order to share the socio-economic situation, inclusion-exclusion dynamics in their cities, organisations and initiatives active in the topic of inclusion, good practices and cultural elements.

Silent Floor

Evaluation activity. Participants, in silence, answer in writing to the questions, or write their opinion on the topic: My best moment; My worst moment; Tweet for the trainers; Tweet for the trainers; About the group: how you think the group has participated and contributed to the training course; Me after SIYS.
The activity is based on written communication, where participants can still be interactive.

TESTIMONIALS

We met together days ago,

We’re more than 40, do you know

How it feels to remember all their names

During playing games?

Actually, it was so fun, the talk show and the run

And really quickly we became so close and nice

Most of us did not take this as a surprise.

The number of the countries is 10

And actually we became such a fan

Of this hot and wonderful place

That made us find our space!

First are the Lithuanians

Eugine, Patricia, Livia, Sigita

Are such smiling great chipita!

The Italians don’t eat only spaghetti

Even and bruschetta
But they are so nice
And please take my advice
To talk with them a lot
In order to be get broad.
Spain was spreading so much love
Smiles, kisses and such stuff
They were so helpful,
Joyful and faithful,
That make it feel
Make it feel so real!

Now, it’s time for there heroes

Dge nemat vse papyrus

The Slovaks are really fun,

They did almost all the run

They are smiling and so shine

They were something like divine!

We’re moving close to us

The Macedonians were so great with us

We laugh, we talk

We even have more than just a walk

We got so combines

Due to vodka and the wine!

The way the Estonians used to speak

Made me feel just like on a gig

Terviseks to all of you

Being here, making that true!

Now, we’re moving to Warshava

Some of them were under cover

Ada was such a mediator

In order to collect them in the elevator.

They were drinking vodka

Without only the seliodka

We were dancing so much

Without having otvarach!

Now is time for the host
We are really most

They are smiling

They’ve been more than shining

They were stable, kind, so strong

They were trying to save us from the wrong

To make us feel respected

And at the same time-protected!

I am so surprised and proud

Being here, part of that sound!

And here’s my team

Which is such a dream

People that met some days ago

Became a family, otbor

We stand, we spend

We share, because we care!

We’re not just a nation here

We became more than dear!

And the final prize

Goes to the people that organize

Teach, explain, everything that wasn’t in vain

They made us such a team

If you exactly what I mean,

A team that stood together

Despite the temperatures, the weather

A team that is a combination

Of people, stories and so nations,

A team that is so committed

And changed us not to quit it,

Such a thing couldn’t be planned

Because only United we stand!
